A filter deep clean is for a dishwasher that smells or a mesh packed with grease after a tablet cycle. We take the filter out and scrub the biofilm. Send the form or WhatsApp with the make and the postcode for a price before the visit.

This work sits inside a full deep clean, usually £79 to £129. A neglected filter is the common reason a visit lands toward the top of that band, because the sump underneath is foul as well. The price is confirmed before anyone starts.

What this visit does not include

  • We clean the filter assembly. A cracked filter housing or a missing part is a spares job, not a clean.
  • If the smell is coming from a failed drain pump that no longer turns, that is a repair.
  • We do not clean washing machines, ovens or hobs on this visit.

Filter refitted and a short cycle run to confirm the smell has gone.

Empty the racks and leave the filter in place. We bring the cleaner.

After the visit

Scrape plates before a cycle and rinse the filter in the sink once a month. That keeps the professional clean from being undone in a fortnight.

DIY or a visit

A supermarket dishwasher cleaner and a vinegar wash mask the smell. They do not lift baked grease out of a cylindrical filter. Rinsing the filter under the tap is worth doing monthly. It is not a substitute when the mesh is black.

How long it lasts

In a busy kitchen the filter needs a proper clean every three to six months. Daily use with oily cooking is closer to three.
